Job Development Program for Young Adults with Autism

  
  
  

Sherman Oaks, California based non-profit, Exceptional Minds, has received a Autism Speaks Family services Community Grant. Exceptional Minds is a vocational school that prepares young adults with autism that are vsiually talented for careers in graphic arts, web design, animation, computer graphics and post-production visual effects.

The $25,000 grant is a effort to support vocational progams aimed at providing employment opportunites to the growing numbers of youth with ASD that are expecxted to transition out of the school system in the coming years.

A recent U.S. Department of Education study reported that 1 in 3 three young adults with autism lack job experience or job skills eight years after their high school graduation.
